2015 Spring Ride April 18, 2015
Wind Wolves Preserve

On April 18th, the Kern Sierra Unit of the BCHC held its spring ride at the Wind Wolves Preserve. WWP is a 93,000 acre conservancy that includes the historic Rancho San Emigdio.
We had 33 riders plus our hosts, Dan & Sara York and Landon Peppel from the WWP. The 2 ½ hour ride led us up the newly improved Red Hawk Trail winding up the rolling hills east of San Emigdio Canyon then across a flat before descending back to valley floor.
The weather was cooler than expected and we covered the 6 miles without incident as all of the horses and riders were well behaved. There was plenty of water on trail for the horses which gave us the opportunity to pass out cards for the poker ride.
Also joining us was John Sears who has been traveling the Western States with his 3 mules.
After the ride we enjoyed a fine meal under shady trees where we were able to acquaint ourselves better with the many new faces present.
The unit would like extend special thanks to our WWP hosts, Dan and Sara York, Landon Peppel and Pete Dye who catered the event.
In addition, thanks to our own Scott Rogers & Jeanette Baybo for making the event arrangements and to Pat Mumford & Sylvia Chavez for handling the rider check in and poker ride.
The event was a great success as in addition to the nice ride and good food; the unit made some money and gained new members.
